EXECUTIVE REPORTS:
VAL BARKER, CHAIR
a) The Chair introduced Janet Fitzsimmons from Poppy Estates as the new Zone 3
Rules Chair.
Zone 3 Website
b) The new Zone 3 website is still under construction. Jeff Sutherland from B.C. Golf was
ill so there is a delay. B.C. Golf is designing and will manage the Zone 3 website and all
information will be migrated to the new website, ie. photos etc. In the meantime information is
being sent to Jeff. Val asked the Captains to take some photos of opening day, special events
and AGM to be included on the website.
Vacant Positions on Zone 3 Executive
c) Val reported that there are still vacancies for Secretary, Treasurer and B.C. Council
representative on the Executive. Chris Harris kindly took on the role of Treasurer when
Lynda Grant resigned however does not want to continue in the Treasurer role. Job
descriptions of these positions are available if anyone is willing to volunteer. There are 1,000
members in 8 Zones in B.C.
Player Privilege Card
Prior to covid, B.C. Golf gave Player Privilege Cards which allowed members of the
Zone Executive to play once per term at a club in their Zone. This was halted during covid and
has not been reinstituted. Val is working with Brent Lindberg at B.C. Golf to provide something
similar as an incentive to serve on the Zone Executive. They will draft a letter to all Zone Golf
Clubs in an effort to get support to reinstate this privilege. Val pointed out that members of the
Executive give a lot of their time to do this work and there should be some rewards.
Judy Christensen advised the meeting that Golf Canada allowed five Admin positions in
their Club to pay $8.00 membership fee instead of $50.00 which again is an incentive to serve
on your Club’s Executive. They divide the savings amongst all of the Executive. Please see
attached document.
d) Upcoming Tournaments
Amateur/Senior - May 26th & 27th, 2025
This 2-day Tournament is hosted by Zone 3 and 4 and is open for registration at a cost
of $180.00 or $220.00 if you enter in both categories of Amateur and Senior. It will be played on
May 26th, 2025 at Fraserview and May 27th, 2025 at the Vancouver Club. The winners will
represent their Zone at the Provincial level. Funding of $500.00 is given to each winner to help
defray costs of travel and registration. Winners win back entry fee. Once the draw is posted
there will be no refunds except in exceptional circumstances determined by the Chair.

Partner-Best Ball - Greenacres - Monday, July 7th, 2025
Greenacres is once again hosting this tournament on July 7th, 2025 with a shotgun start
of 1:00 p.m. This is a fun event, grab your friend and enjoy the day. There will be three flights
of handicaps, draw prizes and raffle baskets. Prizes for KP’s, longest drive and putting contest
. The entry fee has been kept to $140.00 which is the same as last year. Registration will open
on April 1st. Val asked the Captains to approach their respective Pro Shops for donation of
green fees.
Fall Classic - Ledgeview - Monday, September 22, 2025
The Fall Classic is being held at Ledgeview this year on September 22nd. It will be a
1:00 p.m. shotgun. No entry fee has yet been determined (likely around $140.00). This is a
challenging and fun course and the Tournament has been opened for 19+ for players from both
Zone 3 and 4. The format is Stableford which scoring method will be handled by Golf Genius.
Players need only to keep their regular score and Golf Genius will do the calculations. The
prizes are substantial.
Zones 3 and 4 are mandated by B.C. Golf to hold these tournaments. Zones 3 and 4
joined forces two years ago because neither Zone could get enough participants on their own.
We still struggle and had to cancel the Fall Classic last year. Val asked the Captains to put these
Tournaments in front of their members and encourage them to play. These events provide an
opportunity to meet other women from other clubs, socialize and maybe win something.
e) Participation in Women’s Programs
Val advised that she and Lynda Grant are planning on attending your Club’s AGM to
explain the mandate of the Zone and how it relates to the Clubs and to promote participation in
Women’s programs. These programs support junior golf. If Clubs find the paperwork too
onerous, a donation is acceptable. If you wish Val to attend your AGM, email her the date, give
her fifteen minutes of your meeting time. Val will also use the opportunity to campaign for
volunteers for the Zone 3 Executive.
f) Cloud Series
B.C. Golf has started their Cloud Series. Information is available at B.C. Golf. They had
great success with the program last year.
g) Zone 4 Zoom Account
Val advised that Zone 4 has their own Zoom Account for all their Clubs. It is in the Zone
3 budget to be set up for 2025. Chair Val Barker is the contact to set up your Zoom meetings.
h) Generic Email Address for each Club
Val suggested that a generic email address for the Zone 3 Clubs would make it much
simpler each year going forward when Executives change. A few Clubs already have this in
place.

CHRIS HARRIS, VICE-CHAIR AND TREASURER
Chris advised her involvement was in educating why the Zone hosts competitions. It
allows the Zone to support Junior Golf. As well playing Team promotes friendly competition with
visits to other clubs.
The Zone 3 Executive has decided this year to reduce the $5.00 per member fee to
$1.00 and encourage the Clubs to use the savings to promote Team play as well as
encouraging members to participate in the various Tournaments.
The Zoom Account has been included in the 2025 Budget in the amount of $120.00.
Funding of Junior Golf is raised through various Tournaments throughout the year, i.e.
Beat the Champ and Dorothy Olive Franklin. The monies collected by Zone 3 will now be
transferred to Zone 4 to manage.
There is a change in the Budget for 2025 - the Zone will pay for the lunches for
attendance at the Zone 3 meetings.
Motion to Adopt Budget
Moved by: Karen O’Byrne
Seconded by: Denise Pineau
Motion carried.
JANET FITZSIMMONS, RULES CHAIR
Janet advised that there will be a Zone 3 Women’s Rules Clinic on Monday, April 14,
2025 to be held at Surrey Golf Club. The cost is $10.00 with the Zone subsidizing $5.00 for a
net cost of $5.00 per person. The registration deadline is April 7th and space is limited to 50
participants. To register email your name and Golf Club to Janet Fitzsimmons at
janetfitz533@gmail.com . A poster has been provided to all Zone 3 Clubs. Both Janet and Val
will need volunteers to facilitate this Clinic.

The nine-year Rotation Plan –in which Vancouver-area private clubs agree to host the second
day of our Women’s Zone 3 and 4 Championships, as well as our Junior Girls championship - is
our most valuable tool to confirm at least one host day every year. That document, updated in
2022, will expire in five years.
Increasingly, all golf clubs are reluctant to host Shotgun events which can pose difficulties in
booking our Partner Best-Ball and Fall Classic events.
This year, however, both Kings Links and Ledgeview agreed to host the Fall Classic; if we had
chosen Kings Links we would be limited to 80 players as the banquet would be off-site at
RiverHouse Restaurant. Kings Links may be an option for 2026.
Individual relationships between player-members and potential host clubs is very important. Any
assistance from members of individual golf courses in securing a host location for our events is
very appreciated.
The relationship between the two Executives (Zones 3 and 4), including joint planning meetings,
communication and budgeting, remain vital as we manage events together.
Our 2025 Tournament schedule has been confirmed as set out above.
Respectfully Submitted, Holly Horwood Coordinator
Women’s Zones 3 and 4
Holly has agreed to stay in her position for another year.
GAIL THURSTON, ZONE 3 & 4 BUSINESS WOMEN’S CHAIR
Business Women’s have added Mylora Golf Club to their Clubs for a total of nine.
KAREN PULTZ, 1ST TEAM CHAIR
Karen sends regrets as she out of town. Not all clubs have a 1st Team and higher end
clubs (i.e. Vancouver Club) have higher green fees. Some of the clubs are looking into “user
pay” green fees to participate in Team games. Karen is going to poll clubs in Zones 3 and 4 to
get a consensus on this matter (only 4 clubs in each zone have 1st Teams).
Page 6
LYNDA-LEE SAUNIER, ZONE 3 SECOND AND THIRD TEAM CHAIR
Lynda-Lee submitted her written report as follows:
My sincere THANK YOU to all Second and Third Team Captains for their timely response to the
proposed 2025 Schedule. Former Team Captains kindly provided details of changes to the clubs
Team Captains including emails and phone numbers which was very much appreciated.
Revisions were made where necessary and current copies of the schedule and contact
information was distributed to all participating clubs.
The initial Schedule was sent in December, adjustments were made and the final version was
distributed in January to all Team Captains, Val Barker (Zone 3 Chair) and Sherry Works (Zone
3/4 webmaster).
Second Team Club participation is reduced for the 2025 season from 10 Clubs to 9. Peace
Portal has decided to withdraw their Second Team due to the small membership at their club.
This leaves 9 Second Team Clubs who have committed to the 2025 Season.
The 11 Third Team Clubs remain and have committed to the 2025 Season.
Though every effort was made to avoid duplication of clubs competing against one another it
was unavoidable in some cases. Club and Team Captains have been very supportive and a
consensus for the 2025 schedule(s) was achieved at the end of December.
Play will commence the first week in May with all games to be completed on or before
September 1, 2025.
Team Captains are required to provide the Rosters including the Handicaps prior to play to the
opposing Team Captain. Team Captains simply copy me (zone3.2nd3rdteamchair@gmail.com)
when providing the information to the opposing Team. Information will be recorded for reference
in the event it is required.
Results are to be submitted as soon after play as possible.
Results will be distributed monthly to Team Captains, the final reports will be delivered to Team
Captains, Zone 3 Chair and Webmaster Sherry Works on or before the Zone 3 Fall AGM.
Wishing all Teams a Great Season! Happy Golfing
Respectfully Submitted by: Lynda-Lee Saunier
DATE FOR FALL AGM:
Zone 3 Fall AGM will be held on Monday,October 20th, 2025 with a location yet to be
determined. Val asked if there were any volunteers to host it.

QUESTION AND ANSWERS:
All attendees stood and introduced themselves and their Clubs.
There was a discussion about supporting Clubs when they put on tournaments, ie.
Chilliwack in September and Mission in June. These tournaments will be posted on the Zone 3
website. It is a good idea to send Posters to Val to be posted on Zone 3 website.
Lynda Grant explained supporting junior golfers through Beat the Champ and Dorothy
Olive Franklin tournaments.
Meeting adjourned at 11:23 a.m.
